Madden NFL 09 is a football video game that was released in 2008 for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Wii, and PlayStation Portable. It is the 20th installment in the Madden NFL series and features the Pro Bowl teams from the 2008 season. The game includes several new features such as a new playmaker control system, an improved passing system, and a new Superstar mode. The playmaker control system allows players to make pre-snap adjustments on defense and offense. Players can now call audibles, shift players around on the field, and make other strategic decisions before the snap. The improved passing system allows for more accurate throws and better ball placement when throwing to receivers. Players can also use a new “highlight stick” feature to make spectacular catches. The Superstar mode lets players create their own player and take him through an entire career as a professional football player. Players can choose their position, team, uniform number, and even customize their appearance with tattoos and other accessories. As they progress through their career they will have to manage their finances, relationships with teammates and coaches, as well as their performance on the field. Madden NFL 09 also features online play where up to eight players can compete against each other in head-to-head matches or tournaments. Players can also join leagues or create custom tournaments with friends or strangers from around the world. The game also includes mini-games such as “Madden Moments” which allow players to relive classic moments from past NFL seasons.
