About The Game

Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence is an action-adventure stealth video game developed and published by Konami for the PlayStation 2 in 2006. It is the third installment in the Metal Gear Solid series, following Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. The game follows Naked Snake, a former member of the elite special forces unit FOXHOUND, as he infiltrates a Soviet military base to rescue a scientist and prevent a nuclear-armed walking tank from launching a nuclear strike. Subsistence features improved graphics and sound over its predecessor, as well as new gameplay mechanics such as camouflage and CQC (Close Quarters Combat). The game also includes an online multiplayer mode where players can compete against each other in various missions. Additionally, Subsistence includes two bonus discs containing the original Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake games from the MSX2 computer system. The story of Subsistence follows Naked Snake as he infiltrates a Soviet military base in Tselinoyarsk to rescue Dr. Sokolov, who has been kidnapped by Colonel Volgin and his forces. Along the way, Snake must battle his way through hordes of enemies while avoiding detection by using stealth tactics such as camouflage and CQC. During his mission, Snake must also contend with his former mentor The Boss, who has defected to the Soviet Union and is leading their forces against him. As Snake progresses through the game he learns more about The Boss’ motivations for her betrayal and discovers that she is actually trying to prevent a nuclear war between the United States.
